There is nothing quite like the feeling of satisfaction and excitement when you’ve just written a song that you really like. When the melody inspires and the lyrics just flow freely because they’re sincere, there’s a sense that you have allowed something to manifest rather than tried to “make” something out of nothing.

My friend Neil jumped my car when I was stranded just now across town. When I got the car home, I noticed that my electric locks didn’t work. Turned it over… hey, what do you know, the damn thing won’t take a charge either. She’s dead, Jim.

This battery was supposed to last 2 years, not 9 months. What is now a useless expensive piece of lead and plastic is a Farm & Fleet brand battery, purchased in February of this year. What’s their jingle… “Find Value At Farm & Fleet!” I guess if I want to find value, I’ll have to look a little harder next time.

I’m really enjoying not living with someone with completely dissimilar taste in music.

I’m really enjoying going where I want, when I want, with whom I want.

I’m noticing so much that had escaped my consciousness back when most of my time and almost all of my attention was directed elsewhere, back when my large parts of my schedule were determined by a 2-person committee where I held the minority seat.

The capital dome is all a-purple again.  I have no idea why they do that, but it looks really cool.

Driving home after the show last night, I was awash in euphoria from a great performance.  There was a fairly large crowd in the theatre for a Thursday night, and they were very responsive.

I smiled and recalled the jokes that got laughs, the songs that got applause… everyone did really well last night.  The scent from the makeup-removing cloth mixed with the thought, “there’s nothing I’d rather be doing right now,” and left its imprint in my memory.

Last night was fun, and I’m confident that the rest of the weekend will just keep getting better.  I can’t wait.

Although it’s a little disconcerting to see so many people aurally disconnected from their surroundings as they walk around, I have noticed a great side effect: I see so many more people smiling these days.
